Fun Music

Fun Music is for children aged 3-4, with the parental participation. It runs over four independent terms. This group program cultivates musical experiences through free tapping and beating, playing games and experiencing music through movement. Fun Music exercises children’s gross motor skills and inspires creativity. Parental involvement creates a comfortable and beneficial learning environment and introduces music into everyday life. This group program enables children to learn music theory, build basic listening skills, train memory and gain an understanding of rhythm, while having fun through games and activities.

Group program:
Percussion Kids

Percussion Kids is an entry-level course for children aged 4-6 with no prior musical training. This course runs for eight consecutive terms. There is no parental involvement required from this course age group and up. In this course children will develop their fine motor skills, learn how to harmonise in a group environment and understand teamwork through ensemble. Percussion Kids allows children to experience music through movement, free tapping, beating and playing games. This group program enables children to learn music theory, build basic listening skills, train memory and gain an understanding of rhythm, while having fun through games and activities with a variety of small and large percussion instruments.

Group program:
Elementary

Elementary is an entry-level course for children aged 6 and above, with no prior musical training. This course runs for four consecutive terms. Comprehension level and physical development at this age has matured and therefore children’s interaction with music and instructions from teachers will be more direct.

This course will be implementing the use of musical games and actual instrument practice to develop basic music knowledge and skills.

In this course children will learn to harmonise in a group environment, learn teamwork and develop fine motor skills. This group program enables children to learn music theory, build basic listening skills, train memory and gain an understanding of rhythm, while having fun through games and activities with a variety of small and large percussion instruments.

Group program:
Intermediate

Intermediate is for children who have completed the Percussion Kids or Elementary level or who have had prior musical training and passed the qualifying exam. This course runs for eight consecutive terms. With a focus on playing instruments solo, this course will nurture children’s observation, imagination and creativity and enhance their technique on marimba, snare drum and small instruments. In this course children will play large ensemble pieces. As a continuation from Percussion Kids or Elementary course, Intermediate children will further their skills and technique in percussion and enhance the ensemble skills in a group.

Advanced

Advanced is for children who have completed the Intermediate level or who have had prior musical training and passed the qualifying exam. This course runs for eight consecutive terms. This course works towards improving fundamental skills and music theory while extending knowledge of musical instruments and notation system. With ensemble as the main focus, children will start to recognise and enjoy the achievements they have accomplished. In this course children will improve their technique and tuning skills of Timpani, and learn fundamental 3 and 4 mallet grip skills and vibraphone pedaling technique. This course will provide children with the ability to perform ensemble pieces while harmonising and working in a team.

Ensemble

Ensemble is for those who have completed 4 – 6 years of fundamental percussion music training. This course is for students of an advanced level who wish to train as a professional percussionist. In this course students will experiment with extensive range and style of ensemble works, building on 2 - 4 mallet grip technique and a wide range of percussion instruments.

Group program:
Adult

This course is for anyone over the age of 16, who is interested in learning percussion music for leisure. Discover the world of percussion music, experience different melodies and learn to play rhythm instruments. The ease of percussion instruments provides the possibility for everyone to enjoy learning. This course involves learning rhythm and basic melody techniques with ensemble as the main focus. No musical knowledge is required to join this course, fulfill your dream of learning and playing music!
